SPEED provides individual and group training in Pilates, including mat and apparatus classes, as well as intensive Reformer work. This training method increases strength and flexibility, lengthens the body and aligns the spine without building muscle mass. Its focus on strengthening the core muscles and improving postural awareness are especially helpful in preventing and relieving back pain.

Principles of Pilates that you will learn:

  • Mind over matter- fusion of the mind and body
  • Breathing- awakening the body's cells, improving circulation
  • Centering- developing the "powerhouse" core muscles
  • Concentration- intensive focus on the entire body
  • Control- proper form to achieve amazing results
  • Precision- every movement has a purpose
  • Fluidity- supple grace of motion

Did you know?

The Pilates Method ("Puh-LAH-Teez") was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates to improve rehabilitation programs for veterans returning from World War I. The method was more recently popularized by dancers.
